Replacing an Outdoor
Kitchen Grill Head
How to measure for the replacement
There comes a time when you will need to replace your existing outdoor kitchen grill head. Some manufactures no longer produce the existing grill head which you currently have installed, or they have made modifications to the size of the grill head. So about 99% of the time you will not be able to replace the same exact grill head.
(NOTE): Do not use measurements of the actual grill, only the cutout.
If this is the case, here is how to measure your outdoor kitchen for a new grill head. It is necessary that you remove the old grill head from the cutout to take the measurements. If removing the grill head is not possible then at least try to slide the head forward so you can see the exact cutout in your outdoor kitchen island.
1. Once you have a clear view of the actual cutout, take a measuring tape and placing one end against the side of the cutout and measure across to the edge of the other side of the cutout. (left to right) This will give you the cutout width(W).
2. Next measure from the front of the cutout to the back edge of the cutout (front to back). This will give you the depth(D) of the cutout.
3. Now, one more measurement is the height of the cutout. Place the edge of the tape measure on the bottom of the cutout in the front of the outdoor kitchen and measure from the bottom edge to the top of your outdoor kitchen cutout. (bottom to top). This will give you the height(H) measurement.
Now that you have your width(W), depth(D), and height(H) measurements you will now be able to search for the correct size grill head to replace your old one or for a new grill if this is a new outdoor kitchen island.
